More Power. Fewer Batteries. A Safer System.
When this van arrived, it was equipped with eight new 100Ah lithium batteries. After evaluating the existing battery system, we decided to take a different approach: replace the entire battery bank with three EPOCH 460Ah batteries.
The goal wasn’t simply to add more capacity. It was to build a more capable, streamlined power system that better suited the demands of the van.
More Capacity in Fewer Batteries
Each of the original batteries provided 100Ah at 12V, or roughly 1.2kWh of stored energy. With eight batteries, that adds up to approximately 9.6kWh of total storage.
The EPOCH 460Ah batteries offer significantly more capacity per unit. Each battery provides 460Ah at 12.8V, or approximately 5.89kWh of stored energy.
With three batteries, the new system provides nearly 17.7kWh of total energy storage, while using fewer individual batteries.
That means more usable power without the complexity and space requirements of a large battery bank.

More Than Just Capacity
The upgrade also brings several advantages beyond energy storage.
The EPOCH batteries offer:
- Higher continuous power output
- Integrated battery heating
- Bluetooth monitoring
- A 4,000+ cycle rating
- Significantly more capacity per battery
Fewer batteries also means a cleaner installation with fewer individual components to manage.
Building a System We Trust
For us, the goal isn’t simply to put the biggest battery bank possible into a van. It’s about building a power system that makes sense for the vehicle, the space available, and how the van will actually be used.
Replacing eight smaller batteries with three high-capacity units gives us more energy storage while simplifying the system and adding better monitoring and performance.
The result is a power system we’re confident putting back on the road.
Better capacity. Better monitoring. Better fit for the job.
