Ford Transit: Is This an Adventure Van?

Ford Transit Adventure Van

The Ford Transit Van is how we have made our mark as van builders. We build on different types of vans, but we specialize in converting Ford Transits. In this blog, we will answer some questions about the production and existence of Ford Transit vans in the market, and share stories of how we began working on this chassis.

Why is Ford Discontinuing the Transit?

Ford has not discontinued the Transit model and does not plan to. This confusion is generated by the cancellation of Transit Connect vans (a smaller van model) beyond 2023. Beginning this year, this smaller van model will no longer be created. Ford is doing this to match the consumer's needs for a larger travel space, and promoting the integration of EV’s to the Transit chassis. As far as the Transit cargo vans, they have streamlined their production process and manufactured more consistent interiors, even offering 3D scans of the interior of their vans. This allows you to design your van digitally on websites like 3DVanSpace or make more accurate wall and ceiling panels in your van conversion.

The discontinuation was a strategic move by Ford to ensure that the Transit Van remains competitive and compliant with evolving industry standards. This decision reflects Ford's commitment to delivering quality and innovation in their vehicles.

Are Ford Transits Back in Production?

In 2023, Ford faced a shortage when it came to vans, but this year they have boosted the supply of Transit vans. Ford Transits are demanded for all types of workers: painters, HVAC, UHauls, lawncare services, and more. This demand means that finding a cargo van is a challenge. Ford has to work to improve their production to meet the demand of many businesses and individuals alike.

Transit vans are being produced with multiple different model choices. Some of the models that are in production in 2024 include the Ford Transit Passenger Van, Ford Transit Cargo Van, and Ford Transit Campervan. You can find more information about the types of Ford Transit Vans that are being produced at Ford.com.

How Long is the Wait for a New Ford Transit Van?

On average, customers can expect to wait between four to eight weeks for the delivery of a new Ford Transit van. It's important to note that the waiting time might be longer for customized or special-order configurations. To minimize delays, it's advisable to check with your local Ford dealership for availability and estimated delivery times based on your specific requirements. It’s better to plan early for a van conversion, and to set clear expectations with your custom van builder so that they can have their shop create a timeline for your build. This is much appreciated:)

How Many Miles Will a Ford Transit Van Last?

A Ford Transit Van usually lasts more than 200,000 miles on average. One of the key factors that make the Ford Transit Van popular among buyers is its longevity. These vans are built to withstand the demands of daily use and are known for their durability. The expected lifespan of a Ford Transit Van can vary depending on maintenance and usage. The mileage of the Ford Transit is one of the main reasons that the van is considered such a reliable vehicle.

What is a B pillar Lagun Mount? An Upgrade to Your Transit Campervan:

A B pillar lagun mount is a metal fabricated attachment to the OEM B pillar of your Ford Transit van. This allows for you to mount a Lagun table near the sliding door. This will let your passengers have adjustable tablespace on the inside of the van and allow for a table top when standing near the sliding door outside of the van. This feature helps you optimize space in your van. Also, a Lagun table can be easily removed for safe travel when needed.

Conclusion:

If you're considering investing in a Ford Transit Van, it's important to understand these key aspects to make an informed decision. Be sure to consult with your local Ford dealership for more specific information about availability and delivery times. As Ford continues to innovate, the Transit Van remains a solid choice for van conversions.
